Ashfall United came from behind to secure a 2-1 preseason victory over Diamond Creek in a match played under persistent rain and difficult pitch conditions. The heavy rain left significant water on the field, affecting the speed and movement of the ball and creating challenges for both teams. For Ashfall, the conditions demanded greater adaptability, particularly in our passing and combination play.
First Half
Diamond Creek took the lead after 17 minutes, leaving Ashfall 1-0 down. The team responded by continuing to compete and look for opportunities to play through the difficult conditions. The equaliser came in the second half through Ezekiel Sackie.
Sackie Brings Ashfall Level
A free kick taken by Lawrence Jacobs started the move. Jacobs played a well-worked combination that found Herbert Taylor, who then connected with Ezekiel Sackie. Sackie completed the move to bring Ashfall level at 1-1.
Conference Completes the Comeback
Ashfall continued to push after the equaliser and eventually completed the comeback late in the match. David Williams picked out Conference Nah with a long pass from the defensive area. Conference controlled the opportunity and converted to give Ashfall a 2-1 lead. Conference had two further opportunities to extend Ashfall's advantage but was unable to convert either chance.
Preseason Lessons
Ashfall showed the ability to respond after conceding first, find a way back into the match and complete the comeback. The difficult conditions added another test to the preseason, giving the team valuable minutes and further opportunities to assess the squad ahead of the competitive season.
Never Despair.
